Abu Dhabi encourages young readers with book vouchers, gifts
Abu Dhabi International Book Fair new initiatives take school and university students into account.
ABU DHABI - Mohammed Khalaf Al-Mazrouei, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) announced the launch of a grant of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair to support school and university students.
The move aims to encourage and support students wishing to purchase books by distributing to them free vouchers for the upcoming Fair.
The initiative is suggested by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who is also sponsor of the Fair.
The grant also includes the distribution of 1,000 children's bags that contain 10 newly published books each.
The ten children's translated literature titles are published by KALIMA's translation project, and will be distributed to school children who might not be able to attend the Fair.
Dr. Ali bin Tamin, Director of KALIMA, said the titles were carefully selected to promote culture, widen children's imagination and promote understanding of and openness to the other.
The books reflect culture and literature from Britain, America, France, Switzerland, Japan, and Korea.
