Children wearing bunny ears of all shapes and sizes came to the Children Museum on to celebrate Taghreed Najjar's new book and interactive CD " A Home for Arnoub"
Al Salwa Publishers initiated a bunny ear competition to put the children in the mood of the story.
Over a 100 people, children and adults attended the launch. The celebration started
with the author reading a few pages of the story which was then continued on the screen in its animated musical version.
Al Salwa Publishers then highlighted the different and varied activities available to
kids on the CD such as the animated story in both English and Arabic, the different games and the craft ideas.
One of the features that grabbed the attention of the kids on the CD was a game
called " Make your own story" a program whereby kids can choose the background they like then add any of the characters of the book. They can then make the characters bigger or smaller turn them any which way they want then write their own stories in either Arabic or English, save their stories on their computers and print them out in either Arabic or English.
Because the musical story of Arnoub on the CD lends itself to be set on stage so the craft idea in the CD shows children in clear easy steps how to make puppets of the seven characters of the story using paper tissue boxes. The kids can then set up their own puppet show for family and friends.
Al Salwa Publishers then showed a data show presentation of a group of children making the puppets out of Fine tissue boxes at the Hakawati Bookstore under the heading " Have Fun with Arnoub and Fine". The same children then showed off the puppets they made to the audience in the form of a short musical play.
Al Salwa Publishers strongly believe that children should be encouraged to balance their time between the computer and other activities and so the craft instructions and patterns available on the CD gives them the opportunity to use their small muscles through cutting, coloring and gluing. Setting up their own puppet show can be a lot of fun for children and also help them interact creatively with family and friends.
Taghreed Najjar then introduced the children to all the people who contributed to the
production of the book and interactive CD.
The book launch event was sponsored by Fine who presented each child with a gift wrapped box of Fine tissue paper colors, glue, scissors plus the pattern of one story character to help the kids get started right away on making their own puppet.
Taghreed Najjar will be attending the coming Literature Festival in Dubai as a guest writer.
